As far as I know SuSE uses Yast |
Actually, it is YOU: Yast Online Update |

Xsteadfastx - what would be your idea how the updates will be delivered and offer improvement over current SUS/WUS methods ?
Any ideas ? |

Wine would be a answear but then you need a licensed copy of WXP. The way I understand SUS is that it uses Microsoft's Backgroung Transfer services to install the updates - so I guess if one is a MS dev freak one can get it right that the client computers will poll a server that hosts the files and install it - no matter which platform the files are hosted on. |
