When emerging openoffice it fails with the following error:

Code:
=============
Building project instsetoo
=============
/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.0.1-r1/work/oo_1.0.1_src/instsetoo/util

!!! ERROR: app-office/openoffice-1.0.1-r1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 360, Exitcode 1
!!! Cannot find build directory!

I have searched the forums but haven't found anything like this. Do I need to create a directory somewhere for it to work?

Thanks!

Same problem here, but the installation asked me to locate g++ suggesting /usr/include/g++-3.

I entered the path:
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.1/include/g++-v3

but the installation process did not find the directory and suggested to create a new one.

On third retry I finally I said ok and I guess /usr/include/g++-3 was created. The process started unpacking (or whatever), but 15 minutes later it all ended with:

Code:

=============
Building project instsetoo
=============
/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-1.0.1-r1/work/oo_1.0.1_src/instsetoo/util

!!! ERROR: app-office/openoffice-1.0.1-r1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 360, Exitcode 1
!!! Cannot find build directory!

--------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY ---------------------------
LOG FILE = "/tmp/sandbox-openoffice-1.0.1-r1-1088.log"

mkdir:     /usr/include/g++-3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While waiting for an answer one could perhaps install an oo-binary?

Does anybody know how to do that?

The same problem was reported on the gentoo-user mailing list and you can resolve that problem by downgrading to gcc-3.2.1 instead of gcc-3.2.1r6 which I think is the current. I have done that and it passes the initial build error, creates a load of directories and starts compiling. It fails later on but somebody has suggested using Sun Java instead of Blackdown. Will try again tonight.
