Hi!

I have a question on how dependencies are treated in gentoo. I just wanted to install kde by typing "emerge -p kde-3.1_rc6.ebuild" and he showed me a lot of dependencies, including gnome.

Well, I tried "lunar"-linux before. There you have "hard" and "soft" dependencies, the "hard" are the ones that are needed by the program and you MUST install to run this program and the "soft" are the ones you can install optionally.

So, I'm quite sure that gnome is not "hard" needed by kde, but I want to install kde anyway, but only with the necessary deps.

I didn't find any options, so is it possible in gentoo?
