Right now, I have two servers. The first one have all users and passwords in it's passwd - i would like to use the same users on the other server and the /home directory should be mounted from the server on the other server in /home - with all permissions like the server. What is the easiest way to get that up and running? I have thought about NFS and NIS but I don't really know how to set it up the right way.

Is it simple to do that - what do I have to do?

search for NFS/NIS in this HOWTO:

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/hpc-howto.xml

to install NFS and sharing /home

For NIS do:

Code:
emerge net-nds/yp-tools

And follow the NIS HOWTO:

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/NIS-HOWTO/

Don't use NIS unless you have to. You only have to if you can't get the UID numbers to match between the servers. If the UIDs match. then NFS alone is fine.
