I've tried for a long time to get the Radeon working under Gentoo, and while I've succeeded somewhat, the system crashes hard when it tries to do anything other than normal X. So my question is, how can I be sure I've gotten rid of all the test radeon drivers and ensure I go back to the plain drivers? I don't mind compiling X over again or anything like that, I'd just like to ensure I have a clean working base again.
Thanks! _________________ Schuthrax |

I was trying to install the Gatos drivers so that I could use the video in features (it's an AIW 8500.) At this point, I've done so much mucking around, I can't be sure what driver is being used where, so I was attempting to find a way to ensure I am 'back to normal', i.e. plain/vanilla X11 drivers. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to do this for sure, but I'd like to go back and hopefully follow a good procedure someone has so that I can feel more confident with the drivers I am running and so my X will stop locking the machine up. _________________ Schuthrax |

If you just replaced the *.o files for your video drivers, then recompiling your kernel should take care of it. However if for some reason the *.c files were also replaced, you may need to emerge the kernel again...

Ok, I can look at comparing the source files I have with those stored in the kernel package. This seems like it might be quicker than I was originally thinking as I thought I'd need to reinstall X because I thought the radeon drivers came from X and not the kernel. _________________ Schuthrax |
