I'm trying to put Gentoo on a Power Mac 7600 that has a Sonnet processor upgrade in it that bumps it up to a G3 450Mhz. I was trying to install from a Stage2 tar ball. I tried the one from the ISO CD (build 1.2) and when I did an emerge system it stops with an error.
I tried downloading a stage 2 tar ball that is release 1.4r3 and tried to install from that. I think, if my memory is correct, I get the same error. Which is:
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/ncompress-4.2.4/build-info/COUNTER'
Why would I get the same error with two different tar balls?
It also kicks me to a prompt and I don't know if it is done. Is the emerge done and it is just telling me an error? Or did the error stop the emerge of the system? |
