hi,
i have these function keys on my laptop.
xev catches all the keys for the A/V control panel, which i've bound to keys in xine and amixer settings.
but xev doesn't catch the ones intended for launching applications - is there some other way to catch the event of these being pressed? |

I have a T41, and the ibm_acpi module in the kernel can capture the Fn + Fx combinations. |

Seems there's no support for the gateway laptops. But you can use the generic button:
Quote: | CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON: x
x x
x This driver registers for events based on buttons, such as the x
x power, sleep, and lid switch. In the future, a daemon will read x
x /proc/acpi/event and perform user-defined actions such as shutting x
x down the system. Until then, you can cat it, and see output when x
x a button is pressed.

If you don't have /proc/acpi directory, you haven't enabled acpi. |
