This will allow an easy method of contacting all moderators at one time.
- Users:
- If you spot what you believe to be a duplicate post, please post a link to it here. In addition, include a link to what is being duplicated.
- If you find a post you think belongs in a different forum, let us know.
- Avoid multiple reports of spam:
- If a user's posts are all spam, report the user, not the posts.
- Review this thread after submitting a report. Please delete your report if someone beat you to the punch.
- Any other post that you think requires moderation (violations of Guidelines, broken BBcode, etc.).
- Moderators:
- Please delete posts after you've addressed them.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like a spam magnet to me. I expect to see spam posts for properties in Turkey from new users any time now.

Topic: How to manage multiple gentoo installations
Post: post 8808277
Reason: Technically there's nothing wrong with this one, but it hits uncanny valley for me. It is also a necro-bump by a long term (though not very active) member... Kinda feels like a stolen account, though I don't have any way to verify it.
Dunno, I guess just watch for now.
Under watching, thanks for the report -- fedeliallalinea |

Reason: Wie kann man diesen User auf Ignore stellen?
Moderator note:
Translated german text with DeepL: "How can I put this user on ignore?"
Moderator response:
Hello arfe,
the easiest method is not to read any threads or posts from this user.
Another option is to violate our forum rules (*) again - especially 8 or 9 or 10 - and then get banned.
If you violate number 16 of our forum rules again, you will also be banned again.
Ignoring mails from our admins and mods are also helpful to get banned.

Topic: Moved from 17.1 to split-usr 23.0 But what should i do next?
Post: post 8822365
Reason: This thread is changing into Gentoo Chat
I agree, but I don't see an obvious place to split the thread. The thread's owner asked about merged-usr, later including concerns about defaults and future users. The questions still seem reasonable regarding documentation being unclear about choices that can be made. At least I couldn't find clarity in the Install Guide. --pjp |

Topic: Chromium build time 36 hours??
Post: post 8826038
Reason: at least 3 violations of the forum guidelines:
1 hijacked a thread
2 did not contribute
3 acting disrespectful
Also the user is turning the thread into a chat.
logrusx,
Had you not posted along the lines you did, I would have said something similar but probably in PM.
The moderation team likes it best when the forums are self moderating. There is less for us to to :)
No immediate action. You have already done what was required. Thank you.
Lets see if the tread gets back on topic.

Topic: Chromium build time 36 hours??
Post: post 8826126
Reason:the user has made at least 3 violations I've cited above. I've tried to imply that in previous posts, but he shows lack of awareness of his behavior. After being confronted in private about them with the suggestion to read the forum guidelines, he replied with "take your own advice" which clearly demonstrates no intention of conforming to the established rules whatsoever. If the rules of this forum are not being enforced, more of this should be expected.
The topic seems flow just fine at this point. No one other than you complain about this particular user. OP doesn't seem to be bothered about possible topic hijack.
To my eye, participants are sharing experiences and their solutions in a good manner for now. --Zucca |

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-572071.html I think this is the thread about vipernicus leaving us. I found it in a thread where John R. Graham asked what had happened to him.
It seems there was also a thread about John R. Graham's homebuilt.
Simple community stuff.
More recently, richk449 had a thread about the 3d printer he was making.
There is more that disappeared with otw, but remembering productive contributors only seems right.
Thanks. Working on searching those... -- Zucca
I dug few 3D-Printer topics, but I didn't found any where richk449 was building one. Also, I dug the Vipernicus farewell topic out from there too. -- Zucca |

Reason: umpteenth duplicate thread for the same self-inflicted issues.
You have surely seen that I have already written a moderator note in this thread. That's why I don't understand this report. What is this report supposed to do? Is it a sign that you are not happy with the moderation? Do you want to cause a ban and hope to exert more pressure? -- pietinger
It is a sign that a certain level of frustration was reached. The moderator note was inconclusive.
Thank you very much for this explanation. -- pietinger |
