After the latest "emerge world -u", ALSA doesn't work on my system anymore. The error message:
Code: | Starting sound driver: snd-intel8x0 modprobe: Can't locate module snd-intel8x0 |
The module doesn't exist, in other words. Any suggestions on why it doesn't build this module after upgrading? |

it's possible the name has changed for your module, at least the one I use has changed (via686 --> via82xx), so try to find it in the ALSA Soundcard Matrix |

intel8x0 has not changed its name in the matrix. Try recompiling the alsa driver, and make sure that you didn't emerge a new kernel with autoclean on, which would delete all the necessary files for your old kernel. You should probably remove your kernel from your world database. It's just nasty to have that in world with autoclean turned on in portage. |
