Can't emerge KDE

I just finished installing 1.4_rc2 and emerged xfree without problems. Now I'm trying to emerge kde and gnome and I keep dependency errors because some basic packages I need are masked. For KDE it was net-print/foomatic and for Gnome it was x11-libs/gtk+-2.06. Should I just ignore these errors and install the packages even though they were masked?

Nevermind...pulled my head out of the hole and found the problem. I just had to edit my make.conf to accept keywords ~sparc.
