ORBit-2.0.pc Missing

I tried to emerge mozilla-firefox, that depended on gconf-2.8.1-r1. The installation of gconf-2.8.1-r1 failed, because file /usr/lib/pkgconfig/ORBit-2.0.pc was missing. I solved the problem by emerging gnome-base/orbit. There seems to be something wrong with gconf-2.8.1-r1 ebuild anyway.

I haven't installed Gnome. My use flags include gnome gtk -qt -kde.

what version of orbit-2 you have installed?
the newest one in portage (2.12.1) didn't interrupt when there was an error during make install.

Could you please re-emerge libIDL and orbit?
While emerging libIDL look for messages which indicate some clock screw.
If there is something like that, try en emerge -e orbit.
