can i somehow trick gentoo into reporting "net" as started (for depending services), even if only one of the two nics is started?
explanation:
i have a laptop with a wired and a wireless nic. now i have both (configured to use dhcp) added to runlevel default. but i am never using them at the same time. the drawback is: if either of them doesn't come up, gentoo doesn't start depending services such as cups and others.
now i want gentoo to believe "net" was started if either interface is active. how do i accomplish this? is there any configuration for this or do i have to hack the init-scripts? where?
thanks in advance,

see RC_NET_STRICT_CHECKING in /etc/conf.d/rc
but i'm not sure if that helps, because the situation you'd like to accomplish should be the default behaviour of a gentoo system... please keep me up to date if you find out something interesting. thx. |
