|
|
I read several posts before I purchased my new Hypersonic Aviator AX7 laptop. Several of the posts complained of scratchy sounds in KDE that wouldn't go away even though everything seems to be working properly. I stumbled onto the fix with some output from dmesg. For anyone having this or a similar issue the VIA82XX sound card built-in to some new AMD64 laptops will only work properly at 48000 Mhz sampling rate at 16 bit. It's really wierd, but it works. I had the worst time with my KDE sounds until I stumbled on that. Hope this helps someone. _________________ I respect faith, but doubt is what gives you an education.

Use Control Center and go to the Sound & Multimedia -> Sound System item. Next click on the Hardware tab. There you will be able to set the sound settings. Setting the system to ALSA is probably also a good idea if you have it. |
