Hi,

Is there any solution to get a Dlink DWL-520 PCI to run under AMD64? I just saw that hostap was not available on amd64. Any ideas on how to get a Prism2 based card running with what's available?

Thanks!

Sébastien

I would like to know that aswell, really no one knows or tried?

I already tried 3 LiveCDs:

Gentoo, Suse and Ubuntu

and with all the same result, I can load the prism2_usb module but the adapter neither appears in ifconfig nor in iwconfig

I only run mine on an x86 router box, but I poked around in menuconfig on my amd64 machine. Under Wireless LAN, if you enable Hermes there is an experimental driver for Prism 2.5 PCi cards. It might be worth a try.

ok, I think I got to do a GRP Install then afterwards installing the adapter

--> I think it doesnt matter if I use GRP or Stage1, does it? because the GRP is also optimizied für AMD64 it's same, am I right?

--> my Intention was to have a Stage1 but I think I can live with a Stage3 + GRP

I tried that, but with no success. No interface was available to configure...

no I havent yet and I have now a DWL-122 WLAN USB Adapter

I bought it cuz it has a Prism2 chip that should be supported, but the funny thing ist that USB WLAN is
completely unsupported :(

I tried the linux-wlan-ng and though the emerge doesnt error and modprobe prism2_usb aswell,
the wlan script still refuses to find my adapter ...

--> with x86 it worked flawlessly this way at first try :)

FWIW, I got my DWL-520 RevE card working with Gentoo on AMD64. I'm working right now on getting a startup script so it will automatically come up after a reboot.

You can find pretty good instructions on getting the card manually up & running from this URL:
http://home.columbus.rr.com/andrewbarr/linux/dwl520e1.html

Let me know if you run into any snags and I'll try to help out...

I use hostap 0.3.7 on amd64. It's setup as a bridged ethernet access point to my local lan.
I just made a overlay dir and added ~amd64 to the overlay ebuilds.
And got it setup to load the AP firmware after the module loads.

That's encouraging, thanks unlocked.

Quick question though, I've added these lines to my /etc/portage/package.keywords in order to have the packages unmasked but it still says that they are masked when I run "emerge -s hostap"

net-wireles/hostapd
net-wireles/hostap-driver
net-wireless/hostap-utils

It might also be worth mentioning that in my portage tree I have ebuild files for hostap-driver-0.3.7 as well as 0.2.6 and one other, same for hostapd and hostap-utils...

Thanks!
