PostPosted: Sat Feb 20, 2016 10:20 pm    Post subject: [SOLVED] Emerging of dev-qt/qtwebkit-5.5.1-r1::gentoo fails Reply with quote

Hi there,

I have had some issues with my portage lately, one of the keyproblems is qtwebkit - which fails to emerge. I tried masking qt 5.5., but it did not help. I have had emerged qt-webkit-5.5.1 (not r1), accidentally removed it - and now I can't get it back.
Other threads proposing to lower MAKEOPTS -jN did not help. Any hints, I am totally stuck. :(

emerge --info '=dev-qt/qtwebkit-5.5.1-r1::gentoo'

So you switched to GCC 5.3.0. Did you also read the news item that is related to it? Could it be that your trouble with portage started around that time?

EDIT: Unfortunately, your links don't work.

D'Oh!
News items. Mea maxima culpa.
I will return, if I finished the tasks from the news item. Thanks.
(The links are working now, the automatic link recognition added the . to the link.)

Thank you.

Reading the news item (which I somehow managed to forget since 2014) and doing the `revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc` helped after upgrading to gcc5. 225 packets rebuilt without any error, including qtwebkit.
So thanks again.

I've got the same problem., but `revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc` returns nothing. What gives?

I just did an emerge -e @system, followed by an emerge -e @world which fixed several pkgs failing recently, but qtwebkit fails the same, and revdep-rebuild does not find any such broken links or anything to rebuild.

Seems that for some this issue wasn't resolved by the above revdep-rebuild command which results in no found packages.

The upgrade guide says you should use the following command if you are running less then gentoolkit 0.3.1:

Code:
revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc\+\+\.so\.6' -- --exclude gcc

Just in case anyone still has this issue, is as lazy as I am, and doesn't read documentation :-)

resurrecting an old thread in case someone has the same problem - I had this same problem for qtwebkit-5.9.1 & found I had to recompile dev-libs/leveldb.
Hope this helps someone.

Yes, leveldb, but it is only a symptom of (still) the same issue from above: Not all broken packages rebuilt after switch to >=GCC-5.

I have re-emerged ruby, rubygems and leveldb but it has not helped.
I am using gcc 6.4.0-r1.
Any idea how i could fix this?

Code:
/usr/lib64/ruby/2.0.0

Horrendously outdated version of ruby.

Thanks for the hint!
I was not aware of the various ruby slots.

So after having done
Code:
sudo eselect ruby set ruby22

the emerging of qtwebkit completed without an error.

Thanks
