How do I install Samba 3.0 alpha in gentoo? There is no ebuild for it. _________________ Queen Rocks.

Make one! If you don't want to do that, then:

Code:

./configure
make
make install

But you'll certainly need to look at the configuration options to be passed onto ./configure as parameters so it fits in snugly. You might be able to glean some ideas from the existing Samba ebuild for ./configure options. Also they should be documented in the INSTALL file in the tarball, and sometimes you can do something like:

./configure --help

to see what the options are.
