I have the emerge of the NVidia drivers and it works fine appart from when I choose 640*480 mode it starts in 1024*768. I have tried both 16 & 24 bit colour. Its refuses to go into 640*480 mode....any ideas?

My understanding was if "640x480" is the only mode listed and it's valid then it should use it. So I'm not sure what's happening.
X looks for /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, then /etc/X11/XF86Config just in case you happen to have both which you shouldn't.
You try "startx -- -logverbose 5" or just "X -logverbose 5"
then look at /var/log/XFree86.0.log and see what it says. |

No I only have 1 config file....whether or not it has -4 make no diff....... |
