I found this answer on the forums, but didn't need it, now I can't find it again. When I try to turn in QuakeForge I just spin all over. Any help?

Its when you try to move the mouse right? If so your mouse is not set up properly. I got the same problem, no idea how to fix it :|

You using evdev? Not sure that does quakeforge support evdev.

Hmm.... I seem to recall having a similar problem, although its been ages since I've played quake. I'm pretty sure it does have to do with the mouse. Do you have a mouse with a wheel? The protocol is different and while other X programs may interpret the protocal correctly quake may not.
I'll try to see if I can google something up for you.

Not finding much through google. Did find a few people having problems with mouse acceleration, though the threads werent detailed enough to say if its the same problem you're having it does sound familiar. Maybe you can try messing with mouse acceleration (i.e. turning it off) and see if that does anything.

Ok, now your in foreign territory...
I think the quake problem I had was because of svgalib but i _know_ ut has nothing to do with that...
Could you give us a list of all your hardware? Only thing I can think of now is some weird driver bug or the like....

Unplug your joystick, leave it unplugged and then load it.

Its a problem with joystick initializiation.

It happen with quakeforge and quake2-icculus

Hmm, cant help you then, but mine was doing the same thing with both quakeforge and quake 2 and I unplugged the gamepad and it worked. It seemed to have the problem with the joy init.

If you have the joydev module loaded try stopping it (rmmod joydev) just to see if thats the prob.

I didn't even compile joystick support (as a module or built into the kernel).

I use a wheelmouse in Quakeforge and I know it is not the problem.

Are there any FPS games you run that don't have this problem? Try emerging cube and see if it does the same thing

"emerge cube"
