Hi Folks,

I have Cedega 4.2 and want to play bf1942 on my GentooLinux,
Kernel 2.6.9, xorg, Gnome, MoBo A7N8X-Deluxe, CPU AMD Barton 2500+,
1Gig RAM and GeForce FX5900XT !

This is the Problem:
Almost every OpenGL-game works without any Problems in cedega: UT2004, Call-of-Duty,
...except FarCry(halts every 3-4 steps i make for 1-2 seconds,
but its using OpenGL)

But when i'm trying to run a game that uses direct3d/directx, it crashes
or in case of bf1942 it often just freezes and i have to restart my PC. I've tried bf1942, ViceCity,...

...and it seems always to be the same output everytime. I also tried a suggestion from this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=240930&highlight=legacy
...to put this into my sysctl.conf:
# setting to fix wine and winex
vm.legacy_va_layout = 1

and then run: sysctl -p

But it did't help anything...so here's my output i get when bf1942 crashes:

Hope someone can help me out...this would be the best Chritmas Present, because it's more than two weeks now for me trying to solve this problem...

I get this 1 time out of 10 when the loading map just freezes 1/2 way through

By the way you dont have to restart your comp. Just retart X (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) this will kcik you back to the login screen, you will then have to kill the wine processes (wineserver, winedbg).

The problem I am now having is with the 1.61 patch. I am now getting a PB kick after 5min for a GAMEHACK (no I dont have any cheats) and a ban from all servers for 2min


If you login a transgaming and submit a support request for the locout - mention BF NOT DC!!! and they will fix it

Why shouldn't i mention DC ? Thats what I'm playing most of my time...

What issues are coming with DC ? ...except that punkbuster problem ?

After I installed the 1.61 patch the loading at least loaded 2/3 of the loading screen instead of just the half before it freezed...

The problem with DC is it is not supported and if you mention it they will not do anything. Since BF1942 is one of the games they say works perfectly and is 100% supported if you say there is a problem they will look into it
