(should this post must go in "Desktop Environments" or "Installing Gentoo"?)
Well, when I tried to emerge the xfree 4.2.0-r9 package (serveral times), at work's computer, I found that compilation stops always in directory /var/tmp/portage/xfree-4.2.0-r9/work/xc/lib/Xft/ when trying to execute the command bison -y -d xftgram.y.
I get a "Violación de segmento" ( = "segmentation fault" ) message. I've tried in my home's computer and get the same result.
This sounds strange to me as I have installed this xfree version from scratch at home and I didn't get any problems.
I have installed on both computers the 1.34-r1 version of bison. Also I noticed that versions 1.30 and 1.32 are masked in portage

# this new bison has problems and breaks nearly anything that uses it.

...so I downgrade to bison-1.28-r3 with
Code: |
emerge unmerge =bison-1.34-r1
emerge =sys-devel/bison-1.28-r3
|
Now all compile problems are gone! (Now I remember that my home's computer was a 1.0rc6 Gentoo and probably when I emerged the xfree bison was 1.28, not sure)
(On both computers I've manually masked the 1.34 and 1.34-r1 releases as It seems that doesn't work -- at least for me)
Hope this help
BTW:
Searching in the forums to solve my problem I found these posts:

I'm not a "compiling expert" but..maybe they have the same problem? |
