I'm not sure how to describe this problem. It looks like my tx bytes are not ever being sent from eth0, but using the net works fine, and people can access my web server. Still I never have any tx bytes or tx packets, just errors whenever I take a look at ifconfig. I have a linksys lne100 I believe. Whatever the case I use the tulip driver from the kernel. Anyhow I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows how to fix it. Like I say everything works fine it just looks like it doesn't.
ifconfig output: Code: |
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:04:5A:6E:7A:38
inet addr:129.130.217.83 Bcast:129.130.255.255 Mask:255.255.252.0

Guesses:
1) Cable is bad/not fully plugged in
2) IRQ/Address incorrect for the card
3) If those both check out, can you dump your current route for us?
I'm stumped by the "using the net works fine" statement.... Do pings work from that machine to other machines? _________________ Linux user off and on since circa 1995 |

No, everything is good, the cable is new, and as far as I know the irq/address is good. I can ping other machines, surfing the web works fine, and people can access my web server. I just never get any tx bytes registered, just errors. Here is my routing:
Code: |
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
129.130.216.0 * 255.255.252.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
default 129.130.219.240 0.0.0.0 UG 1 0 0 eth0 |
Thanks,
John |
