|
|
Hi all,
I have successfully installed gentoo on a 400Mhz Netra X1 that has been lying idle at work for the last 3 years. It all works great and boots fine, but for the life of me I cant get it to "remember" to boot from disk, and not the network (which I take it is the default setting). Every time it boots (whether from a reboot command in gentoo or by poweron from the LOM or the rocker switch) it tries to boot from the network. I have to then get to the lom OK prompt and type "boot disk" for gentoo to get started. Not good for what I hope to make into a DNS and DHCP server.
I have tried (from the OK prompt):
sentenv boot-device disk
I have tried to add the above using nvedit and save to nvram using nvstore command, and configuring use-nvramrc?=true
The printenv command shows all these commands as being sucessfully saved, but a reboot shows that everything is back to defaults. I am lacking in Sun experience, but this doesnt make any sense to me.
Can anyone suggest anything? |

Got it!
Diag device was set to net
So, I had to set diag-switch from true to false. The netra now does boot from disk.
Wow. Sweet. |
