I must say this new policy seems to be working I've quite a lot of OTW only people posting all over the place lately (I'm no exception).

Don't take my posting too serious :P

You're just some characters I know well from OTW. Your tech support is surely brilliant, but most of your statements I got to know take place at OTW which is not a support forum. Sorry I hadn't mentioned vonhelmet and the rest of the real otw authors

Imagin every single OTW post of you would be a supporting hint. WOW! No more unanswered questions would exist.

PS.: Sorry Curtis119

wait a second, now that i've read through some of this crap...

why are mods like lil' keibler or whatever the fuck his name is getting their panties in a twist?

if you post in the guidlines of OTW to have a thick skin, then people expect it to be a rambunctous place... i mean you guys set yourselfs up for the fall on that one. shit, i'd have never posted here if i hadn't read that one line and seen the silly stuff that happens in this forum.

and you should update the sticky... those guidlines posted there obviously are not from the 18th of april.

i love revisionist history and random rule changes.

Curtis911 sounds like a competitor to the horrible "bunch of gay guys do makeovers" show. Sorry, the name escapes me at the moment.

I see you have selective memory, or vision. That rule does not preempt the other rules.

How much of a server capacity hog is OTW? That is, I think, a better argument for "outsourcing OTW" than the wild incivility is. http://otw.psytrip.org should be the o-t-w.org site, by the way...

or at least restrict it to computer or technology topics. religion, politics, sex, our favorite foods, and personal attacks, whatever, just makes too much noise. It's bad enough having to sift thru all those other language posts. If you wanna discuss those topics, there are other forums to do that. A few links have been posted

That's exactly what I was saying. Hopefully, that'll happen (rather than just getting rid of OTW all together).

They did that at linuxnewbie.org/justlinux.com and as far as I can tell there really was no difference between not having a "OTW" and having only a linux-related "OTW". If you only castrate one testicle, from a bull is it still a bull?

Well.. heh. are you new to OTW? Look at all the threads in OTW. Look at the threads where the fights / arguments / trolling really breaks out. They're in the "my religion rux.. yours is teh ghey" or the "america is teh ghey... peanut butter rux" threads, not the "hrmm.. ati or nvidia?" threads. I don't see how (if the mods limited topics to tech related, or even linux related) it couldn't be just like the gentoo chat area - minus the gentoo.

EDIT: one too many "how"s.

Anyone else noticing the increase in "odd" posts in Gentoo Chat? Is the post count really that big of a deal? Does everyone need to post an "omg, myfavoriteprogram is huge!" and reply to it with info that is very easily searchable and findable on the forums.......

It's a post count, not the size of your..... thumb.

Time for an updated "search before you post" topic?

Hey also since the post count got dropped from otw, can we drop the search index for it too?

Just so you know, the "OO IS HGUE" (yes, hgue) has been around for ~ 1 week... mind linking to some of these 'weird' topics in GC?

Solution: Make it so that a maximum of 25% of a user's posts may be in OTW. It would still give Gentoo users a place to get to know each other, but would discourage repetitive debates. No more trolls from Google. Lots of crap would be cut, and all of us would waste a whole lot less time.

Well why you dont remove the postcount at all?
Zero to everybody.
Another proposal.
Moderators of the month, for the otw specific.

Ciaranm i use and i will use your gentoo-syntax,is perfect...but your attack to the people who make patchsets is outrageous.
Now lovechild is banned again and you still belong here.
I have the feeling that we watch the theatre of the absurd.
Good work klieber, you have to be happy now.
I think we are just one step before your last resort.

After reading some topics in OTW do you really want to get to know some of these people? ;)

Of course I want, you dun see lots of true stuff out there in the real world, my friend. These people dun have to be responsible for their behaviour here, so they act dumb. I do not think in real world they would.

Yea, well with posts like these:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=1885172#1885172

it's not surprising. Don't make me start reporting this crap :P

OTW is supposed to be the place to clutter the forums, not the support areas.

porodzila,
stop postcount++ posts like the ones mentioned above. Otherwise you'll have to live with the consequences.

In my experience I'd say that far more harm is being done by encouraging newbies who don't understand kernel code to run broken kernels put together by people who don't understand kernel code, especially when large amounts of developer time ends up being wasted doing support and not-real-bug-hunting on things which eventually turn out to be caused by some broken kernel patch.

Not gonna happen, it would require too much hacking away at the PHPBB code which is something that will not be done.

I certainly can understand that it is frustrating for the devs to be overwhelmed by bug reports that are caused by the kind of kernels you describe.

However, this still doesn't justify constantly provoking Lovechild in an effort to make him say something stupid and get him banned. And though Lovechild clearly violate the guidelines, I think the mods should at least take into account that he was provoked.

i have no opinion on codes and patches, since i know close to nothing about coding. but the way lovechild was provoked by you just doesn´t seem right to me!
