|
|
Right, I tried setting up windowmaker to use GDM, but that launched the gnome panel (which I don't want).
Did I set that up wrong?
I'm using xdm, but don't like it much - that little login screen is ugly, and pretty useless.
GDM, KDM, etc. have much nicer ones.
How do I set up windowmaker to use of them?
(Is it as easy as just editing that config file that tells the system which one to use for /etc/init.d/xdm? I remember doing that and getting the gdm problem above)
Also, recomendations on window managers generally?
I use wdm (the windowmaker dm) on my debian box - is it in gentoo?

i havent seen wdm on gentoo...
as to making windowmaker work with gdm or kdm just add a session called wmaker and gentoo magic should take care of the rest. |

With KDM to add additional window manager to the selection drop down just put a script to start your WM in /etc/X11/Session. KDM takes are of the rest.
