I done fscked up. Needed to recreate /var so I backed up /var/cache/edb instead of /var/db/pkg. After recreating /var, it appears that Portage doesn't think I have anything installed.
oops
Any suggestions on where I should go from here |

The link you pointed to was more about what happened to /var, how to prevent it from happening (which I already know...since I am the one that did it to myself), and file recovery.
There are no answers to what the best course of action is since it *did* happen and his answer is probably different anyway since he used -b on every emerge.
While I probably could have tacked this onto that page, my question is very different that his. |

I responded to iKiddo's post in that other thread, you might want to read that. Raccroc, asssuming your /var/cache/edb/world is intact, I think your best bet is to "emerge -e world". It will take a while, but at least when it finishes, Portage should have a correct notion about the files on your system again. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
