I am playing around on an old gateway with a Rage Pro Card in it. I've been searching the forums on how to get 3d rendering enabled but so far all I've seen are dead links and some of the procedures seem a bit challenging. I am wondering since the 2.6 kernels do not have built in DRI for Mach64 that the 2.4 sources may have it?
Thanks in Advance. |

Heh, I'm just about to try something similar with an old Dell OptiPlex with the same card - haven't done anything yet, but was directed to Retinal Burn's Linux page at http://www.retinalburn.net/linux/index.html. Looks a mite cluttered, but worth a shot... _________________ Docs, Tips & Tricks at the Gentoo Wiki page. |

Join the crew of mach64 based card owners wanting the best for their card.
I was previously using 2.6 with X.org 6.8r1 on my rage mobility P/M
but I have switched back to 2.4 due to weird framebuffer problems on 2.6
I can highly recommend you the snapshot drivers usually located at http://freedesktop.org/dri/snapshots/
but due to the freedesktop.org server compromise, the only snapshots available are located at http://freedesktop.org/~fxkuehl/snapshots/
grab both the mach64 and common ones, untar the mach64 one first, run ./install.sh, complete the install, then rename the dripkg dir, untar the common one (so that it now untars into dripkg) and simply repeat the procedure.
you can find alot of help on these forums setting up your xorg.conf as well, just try a search for "mach64". |
