Hello all,
A simple question, what is the current recommended way to locally (ie on my machine) fix a package at a set version.
Namely, I would like to prevent any updates of the kernel sources b/c the header files get mucked up and I have to immediately recompile the kernel so I can reinstall my nvidia drivers. Since I can't always get around to sorting out new kernel options (even with make oldconfig I like to see what the new features are), I'd prefer to not have the kernel updated. I'd still like to be able to emerge -u world and go, however.
The logical solution would seem to involve profiles/package.mask but this is "rsync'd" into oblivion. Is there another method (beside hacking a script to backup package.mask, rsync, and then reintegrate the files) to handle this sort of configuration?
Regards,
