I cannot understand how a person can be entertained by spewing garbage onto the internet.
What type of person does it take to become a troll? It seems to me that an average troll must be a very lonely and depressed person that has been picked on most of their life and somehow feels empowered by annoying others, but is too afraid to start confrontations in real life, so they cowar behind the anonymity that the internet offers.
Anyone else have some insight? _________________ What is the best [insert-type-of-program-here]? |

| It takes a lot of talent to be a good and funny troll. I applaud any trolls who made me laugh. Go trolls. |

| Much alcohol no doubt helps improve one's trolling abilities. |

How old are you?
Currently, I don't understand it myself, but I'm pretty sure that back in the days when I was 12, these things seemed to be different =) _________________ 'If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you - and then you realize that, all this time, you've been looking at yourself. |

I'm 24, but I wouldn't have understood it at 12 either. In fact, it would've bugged me even more then since I would've been downloading the trollings at 2400bps _________________ What is the best [insert-type-of-program-here]? |

I don't have a problem with trolls. I have a problem with forums where the troll density is too high and the trolls don't admit that they're trolling and believe their responses are valid and defense them like they would their precious. 1 post by a troll in a thread is a given, and clever trolls help out in that department, but when 50% of your thread is corrupted by trolls and them and others arguing with them...well then you know what happens. _________________ ---

I'm a troll. I do it for entertainment, but people usually don't follow. |

I tried sending him an email to commend him for his great work, but he supplied a bogus email account. Go figure. |

| I'm new to online forums. Would this count as trolling? The guy took it a little more personally than I expected. |

Trolling on accident is sometimes the best kind.
But no, I don't think that was a troll. |

I usto troll Slashdot with a horrible name and get flamebait status alot. I toned it down now but I was so proud when I got flamebait listed by mine and always made me laugh. _________________ Cheers, SlicerDicer

| I think that as long as it's not at another person's expense, and with the corrolary that it's funny, trolling is fine. If it's just meant and taken in jest, then I've no problems with it. |

Well if you can't support reading trolls, then don't come to the Internet. I certainly prefer to read some trolls than to stand up for censorship. _________________ There is a lot of novelty and truth in what you say, but that which is true is not novel and that which is novel is not true. |
