If Star Trek was a real thing, would you be an officer aboard a star ship? Answer reguarding the Voyager timeframe.

Yes.
Space exploration should be, even now, our unifying force. We should be looking for ways to get off this planet and expand to others if we, as a race wish to survive.

Babylon 5 is better.
I'd still hitch a ride at warp speed though. _________________ Understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, their side, and the truth. --Kosh

| I where starting to worry that OTW might sink below the allowed geekiness factor for a linux forum so I guess it's a good thing that this thread showed up. |

Absolutely. Actually I'd take any chance to visit "space" (be it orbit, planetary body other than Earth, deep space) if it were possible.

I'd prefer TOS or early TNG, era that wasn't yet polluted by Brannon&Braga. _________________ Down that path lies madness. On the other hand, the road to hell is paved with melting snowballs. |

Erh, not sure you are right there...
I think he means as in Unamed Crewman number 1 (ensign <insert name here>)
as opposed to captain being number one. _________________

"Crewman Number Six" was Sam Rockwell's character's character in Galaxy Quest. He was toasted in the first five minutes of the "Galaxy Quest" TV episode he appeared in. All throughout the movie, Sam Rockwell's character (Guy) is afraid the same will happen to him... at least until he is reminded that he is probably the "plucky comic relief." _________________ Proud to be a... eh, forget it.

I'm not so sure...
What system do the ship's computers run on?

They'd never let me on a ship, I'd spend all day playing practical jokes with the teleporter and holodeck. You could teleport a sleeping person to the holodeck and then completely fuck with their mind!
The possibilities are endless! |

Since everybody other than the captain and his best mates seem to die in most of the movies, I'd probably rather stay alive unless I was on really good terms with the captain. _________________ Want Free games?

I think I'd like to be an engineer or pilot, something totally different than my skillset IRL.
I like all the Star Trek series, but TNG and Voyager are my fave so far. |

I never watch the Star Trek crap (eh oh, now I'm in trouble here ) But I wouldn't go on a space exploration, unless I'm already married and got kids or something and it's a very big ship with ALOT of people and the whole thing should be safe! So I most likely wouldn't go, eh?
