|
|
Hi there,
I'm playing around with Xgl from xgl-coffee, and their forum is down at the moment.
Xgl works fine, and I have emerged kdelibs from xgl-coffee with the pertty USE flag. (What does this flag actually do?) Kicker provides a bar showing currently opened windows which in German is called "Fensterleiste". With Xgl, it is empty, so I have to switch windows by Alt+Tab. Additionally, I have no chance to restore minimized windows. Does anybody know what to do?
Thanks!

Thanks, I'll try that. Could there be any need to reemerge other KDE components such as kwin or kicker, since they depend on kdelibs?

Hi,
reemerging kdelibs without pertty didn't help, either. Just doing revdep-rebuild.
Edit: revdep-rebuild didn't find anything KDE-related to rebuild. |

it's working perfectly here with the pertty patches. A friend had a similar problem and i solved it by removing the taskbar from kicker and adding it again... a restart of compiz was needed...
btw: does anybody know if the switcher can show minimized windows as well? thanx _________________ Never argue with an idiot. They will only pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience. |

I have noticed that removing ~/.kde3.5 gives me a new KDE configuration with the window bar working correctly, but I don't wanna lose my whole configuration. Does anybody which parts are releveant to the window bar, so that I can check, if removing them solves the problem?
Thank you!

It used to be in the wiki, but it was removed because it's not really a solution. However, it's at least better than nothing:
Open the KDE Control Center and go desktop -> taskbar and enable 'Show windows from all desktops'. |

This option doesn't exist, and I think it only is availabe for the task switcher, isn't it? Or is there a configuration option I could type into some file in ~/.kde/? What is this problem caused by? The problem lives on ... |

Oh, I forgot. The option only exists if you run KDE in the normal X server, not Xgl. So run KDE inside normal X, set the option and then try Xgl again. |

Okay, this helped, but there still are some problems:
- The Kontact icon in the taskbar is always highlighted as if new mail had arrived.
- When clicking links in e-mails, existing Konqueror instances aren't recognized to open a new tab within, but a new instance of Konqueror is started.
Are these problems specific to me, or is this just work to be done?
Also, my question what pertty does is still unanswered
Many thanks!
