This is what I get in the console window that I start Evolution from:
Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_signal_disconnect_by_data(): could not find handler containing data (0x81AAB18)
evolution-shell-WARNING **: Error changing interactive status of component OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Summary_ShellComponent to TRUE -- IDL:CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0
Gtk-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `BonoboObject'
Bonobo-CRITICAL **: file bonobo-object.c: line 1040 (bonobo_object_corba_objref): assertion `BONOBO_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed.
evolution-shell-WARNING **: CORBA exception IDL:GNOME/Evolution/Shell/InternalError:1.0 when requesting URI -- evolution:/summary
gtkhtml-ERROR **: gconf error: Failed to launch configuration server: Failed to execute child process (No such file or directory)
I'm no genius, but I smell a bad gconf configuration or something. Can anyone lead me in the right direction on this one? I'm having trouble (also) w/ Galeon, and that's pointing me towards GTK/gconf errors. Any iideas?

I have a similar problem, and it's all my own fault. I got tired of seeing
Quote: |
* Regenerating GNU info directory index...
* Processed 60 info files.
* IMPORTANT: 68 config files in /etc need updating.
* IMPORTANT: 4 config files in /usr/kde/3/share/config need updating.
* Type emerge --help config to learn how to update config files.

and so I adding CONFIG_PROTECT="" to my make.conf.
DON'T DO THAT Major mistake on my part, and now my system is all messed up. took me an hour to get my X reconfigured, and now my galeon and evolution don't work. I'm getting pretty much the same messages as the original post. i unmerged galeon, and re-emerged it, and it made no difference. _________________ Toast

In the hints and tips forum here there is a thread about how to automatically backup your /etc directory to a tar file apon everytime you reboot the system. The one you want is the last script in the thread. It backs up three generations of /etc and when you get to 4 the first is overwritten (thats how I understood it anyways). |
