I found out that the controller from sun is actually a DPT PM3755U2B from adaptec. kernel 2.4.20 does have a driver for that controller but not for sparc. I have sent an email to the driver maintainer at adaptec and she promised me to start coding again on the driver. so i have to wait until i can use all my disks again.
greetings

Hello Guys
I used to work for the department of adaptec that created that particular card.
The card was made by DPT which adaptec purchased about 5 years ago.
This was the high end model which was tested in E250s and E450s and should be bootable on probably any pci based system (ultra 5/10 comes to mind).
Under linux the card uses the dpt_i2o driver which actually covers a very large range of cards upto U160 speeds. Only the 3755 model though is bootable since DPT never made fcode (sun boot code) for anything else.
If anyone has gotten the dpt_i2o to work please share since the dpt_i20 based cards are as cheap as 10$ out on ebay.
Peace,

Hello,
I'm installing Gentoo on sun4u Sun Fire 280R (UltraSPARC-III+) connected to "StorEdge D2" 218GB rackmount with SCSI cable.
The thing is that I can't see it with fdisk, I don't know what device should I make fdisk on?
May be there is a need to load some special driver?
How should I partition this StorEdge?
Please Help. |
