|
|
I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up the sun disklabel on my drive. I found all the specifications for the drive (Fujitsu MAG3182LC) here: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/storage/hdd/eol/ehdd/mag3-catalog.html but the sectors/track is listed as "273 to 420 (14 zones)". Does this mean I can choose any value between 273 and 420? And is there any advantage to choosing a certain value?
thanks! |

You usually will want to go with the highest numbers....
on a side note, if you use the solaris 9/10 "install" CD (not the CD#1 of 2) to do a solaris install (then later wipe the drive for linux), it will automatically apply a valid sun disk label ... I use solaris and linux, and this is a very new unannounced add-on to the solaris installer as far as I can tell. _________________ -Tim Smith |

Hi,
I'm running gentoo already and i have got a external disk for my sparcstation 20 (as there is only space for 1 disk inside)
The disk gives the following parameters
Vendor: SEAGATE
Model: ST39103LW
As this disk is 9.1 Gb (and exactly the same disk as my other (suse) linux machine) i know that it should be 9.1 after formatting BUT i cant get my &*^&* sun disklabel right because i don't know the exact drive parameters.
I have got another machine running linux that has the right size after formatting, so it should be possible to get information out of that machine the only problem is HOW....... |
