Please explain, I love this feature why is it going bye bye. I don't want it to go bye bye. Is it too hard to maintain? Are bugs being reported as a result of using it? Please explain I can't seem to find anyone complaining about it. |

Usually, if a package that you could install before can no longer be installed, it's for a good reason (bugs that you haven't yet run into). -U lets you keep these packages on your system without you even knowing you probably shouldn't.
Why do you need -U? If a package is masked and you want it anyway, tell portage this via the files in /etc/portage (man portage for details). |
