I'm using nitro sources for kernel, could that be an issue? I have a T40 and it just segfaults on any use of opengl

@Kurous

Only one way to find out. Use plain ol' boring gentoo-sources and see if opengl works for you. :D Good luck.

Just wondering, was the intel 440LX/BX/GX chipset support required for this to work? From the kernel descriptions it didn't seem revelant to the ATI stuff. I'm doing an installation for a friend on Dell Inspiron 5100 with the radeon mobility 7500 graphics card, but I'm only familar with my Nvidia stuff.

Code:

  x                                                                         x
  x This option gives you AGP support for the GLX component of X            x
  x on Intel 440LX/BX/GX, 815, 820, 830, 840, 845, 850, 860, 875,           x
  x E7205 and E7505 chipsets and full support for the 810, 815, 830M,       x
  x 845G, 852GM, 855GM, 865G and I915 integrated graphics chipsets.         x
  x

I'm pretty sure most laptops use these chipsets that have a readon 7500 and you'll need it for AGP. I'm not familiar with dells but if you get a kernel panic without it...it might be a good sign you need that option :)
