Help. I did emerge -u world and obviously wasn't paying enough attention to the settings i was adjusting in etc-update and now my network settings are out the window.
hosts.conf, hostname and resolv.conf all have the correct info although I did have to change hosts.conf to have 192.168.1.3 <hostname>.<domain> instead of 192.168.1.3 <hostname>
other than that I got no error message on reboot apart from:
failed to setlogsock() on this platform; reporting logs to stderr
when starting spamd and:
Failed to bind port 10000 : Cannot assign requested address at /usr/libexec/webmin/miniserv.pl line 318.
when starting webmin
if i run ifconfig i get the ip address as being 192.168.0.2 instead of 192.168.1.3 which dhcpd should usually set it to. (dns server gives it a static ip). trying to manually change this to the correct ip address doesn't seem to help matters as pinging anywhere gives me:
sendTo: Network is unreachable
what else should I look at? |

sounds like your /etc/conf.d/net file was overwritten since 192.168.0.2 is the default IP address in an unedited file. it also contains the default gateway at the bottom. Edit this file and reboot.
