Hi,

I was just trying to make cinelerra running but after installing binaries i got the following error messages:

Code:
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.0.12
libpng warning: Application  is  running with png.c from libpng-1.2.4
libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library
Segmentation fault

The program then doesn't start.
I did the following things:
- I downloaded the RPM package (old ebuild still masked)
- I converted it to tar.gz and untarred from the root dir
- I installed the two rpm packages regarging the glibc3 (c and c++ ones) as suggested in Cinelerra homepage. I'm still running gcc 2.x anyway.

Have anyone had similar experiences or a good suggestion?

Thanks in advance,

Platux

I had the same and never got it running till I went over to gcc 3.2 and then it compiled just fine.

What do you suggest: Re-install the latest Gentoo distro with everything running gcc 3.x or recompile everything with new gcc? (gentoo 1.2 here...) How much time does it take to move to the new compiler?

Ah, I was just forgetting... How do you think is Cinelerra? Because I heard good things but I don't know if it worths to leave Premiere and Virtualdub...

Thanks,
Platux

Reinstall or recompile: I'd vote for reinstalling 1.4.

If you've got enough space on your harddrive, you could as well do a parallel install on another partition, so you can still work and build the whole new system chrooted in background.
How to do this is described here (3.) http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/altinstall.xml

This is my preferred way of installation, because depending on your needs the install will take between long, very long (KDE) and insanely long (OpenOffice from source).

Cinelerra: I emerged it a week ago, but sadly I didn't find the time to have a closer look at it. What I've seen until now looked impressive, though.

thanks for the suggestion. I looked into the portage tree and the last ebuildable version is the old 1.0.0, while cinelerra 1.1 is out...
Do anyone has an updated (and unmasked) ebuild?
