In curiosity I tried "emerge -p gcc" and several others but I didnt get anything till I changed etc/make.conf's "ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86"" to untested, "=~x86". At least its an easy try.

root@ hielvc # emerge -p gcc
These are the packages that I would merge, in order.

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild U ] sys-devel/gcc-3.2-r4
