given gentoo's origins and nature we have a large base of *bsd users or potential users who ocasionaly ask for help on these forums, given work is currently underway on moving portage over to the *bsd kernel it would be nice to have a home for these requests

i realise we have one for os x so i may be possible to rename it but i think i would be better to keep them seperate

i would vote for calling someting like gentoo on "*bsd and other kernels" so the hurd guys have a place too

I'm looking into openBSD on my second computer and would love to be part of a good BSD forum. It would be especially helpful to to have a forum based on Gentoo users' perspective.

I like the idea.

For strictly *BSD maters, isn't that what the BSD Forums are for? Or do you mean for the Gentoo/*BSD project?

Just like we have a "general linux" forum, we also have a "general BSD" forum. Off The Wall.

We do not have a forum for general OS X questions. It is for questions related to Portage on OS X.

The Gentoo Forums are for the purpose of supporting Gentoo... not Red Hat, Mandrake, Debian, BSD, etc.

i was thinking mostly for portage stuff but it would be nice way to bring *bsd users over to the forums, i tend to think of OTW as more dedicated to frivolous stuff but i see the point
