If reverting to an older version of the nvidia-drivers, make sure to revert both nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx packages! So please check if your installed versions of both packages... Everything should work fine then!
To do so, edit /etc/portage/package.mask to contain nvidia-kernel und nvidia-glx with the desired version, e.g.
Code: |
<=media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.6629
|
This will hopefully give you revision 6611 With this, you can easily control which versions you have installed.
Also remember that you always have to reinstall nvidia-kernel on each kernel-build, no matter if 2.4 or 2.6.
About the preemption problem: If disabling preemption doesn't help to stabilize your system, you'll have to look somewhere else. My system runs gentoo-dev-2.6.10-r4 without problems, and it's an overclocked Asus P2B-F running at 133MHz FSB with a PIII-933 and a Geforce2 AGP board.
Good luck,
