The new patch apparantly causes an unhandled exception when joining bettlenet closed games.
Blizzard's techincal support had this very helpful tidbit:
"Diablo II only natively supports the Mac OS and Windows platforms. Currently, the Linux platform is not supported and the game may not run stably under Linux with Wine. You might want to try playing the game under Windows to see if this resolves the issue."
Anyone have any workarounds for this yet? _________________ Before you insult someone, it is often best to walk a mile in their shoes.

Yes, was released.
I don't post a link, you know, German Copyright Laws , but you can find some Diablo2 resources at d2event |

Don't loaders just bypass cd checks? I can connect to battlenet but if I attempt to join or create a game it crashes out, I'm just leaving the cdrom in the drive. _________________ Before you insult someone, it is often best to walk a mile in their shoes.

i am using wine and the actually diablo 2 lod patch.
the masked by keyword: ~x86 version of wine (wine-20050830) can now handle the copy protection (so i think, because it had not been working in earlier versions of wine).
i mount my lod cd, start diablo and it is working.
--- sorry for the bad english ---

Try the newest loader.
I think, if it works before, it should work again with a new loader |

I don't think you guys get what my problem is, though. I don't need a crack because the game loads fine with the cd in the tray, the problem is if I try to join a battle.net game it crashes. I'm able to connect to battle.net and chat, or browse games, but if I join, the guy in robes at the door shows up until it fills up the progressbar, at which point it crashes. It's maddening because I got the stupid cd to actually work and now i just cant PLAY
don't get me wrong I appreciate the help, I just wish someone else had and fixed this problem *sigh* I'm considering installing windows just because this new computer and linux are becoming more trouble than they are worth.
And that's saying a lot, as I haven't had windows for 4 years now. _________________ Before you insult someone, it is often best to walk a mile in their shoes.
