I am trying to enable dri for my ati-rage XL. But I have some questions and need your help.
1. about the kernel:
1. this is a PCI video card, so can I disable the AGP support?
2. This card is using MACH 64 chipset which can't be found in DRM drivers. There are only two cards list in that section. One is 3dfx Banshee/voodoo3+ and the other is ATI Rage 128.
kernel : gentoo-sources-2.4.19.r9
2. about xfree86.
XFree was complied with default USE without "dga". Do I need to insert it in and recomplie xfree? _________________ nothing is everything, everything is nothing |

Moved from Installing Gentoo as this is a post-installation issue. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Rage XL is a mach64 chip. Minimal 3D acceleration, especially if you're not enough of a hacker to get/keep it running and file intelligent bug reports.
Just go for the base 2D support and deal with it. With a good CPU, software GL ought to be almost as fast as hardware Mach64, anyway.
And one more: PCI = no 3D for ATI-based cards under DRI at the moment. |
