I vote iris.
However, it would be much better if its color were more in blue or purple. Iris in purple is amazing and gorgeous

I voted for Aaron Shi, because it looked the most professional IMO.
But I hope that it isn't flash on the top.

My vote went to Aaron Shi , his site is less conventional and more fun than others!

Yet another, "it was a tie between aron shi and iris." My thoughts, (in case it matters):
Aron Shi: very profesional, high impact, well organized, impersonal, "too corporate".
Iris: "felt gentoo-ish", mature design while remaining personal, orginization still seemed somewhat scattered, and of course: where's the purple? :)

Any of the 3 leaders would be fine with me, as long as they're coded properly. :D

On one hand, Iris on Mirror is nice, but it just seems too washed out. The purple version is better, but it still doesn't sit right with me. (I can't quite pinpoint why.) For me it came down between Aaron Shi and Gencorp, but Aaron's seemed just a little bit cleaner and more user friendly to me. I really like Gentech as well, but I couldn't stand how needlessly fat that top navigation bar is.

Ya, I wish the code was on display along with screenshots.

Derek Gerstmann: very clean and slick. you got my vote.

as for Aaron Shi; his design is _too_ professional i think; it looks very corporate and perhaps even intimidating. What i like about the Gerstmann design is the 'open' and welcoming look (probably because of the use of a lot of whitespace).

Aaron Shi.
All the other designs look pale when compared to his design.

I want a design to look clean, fresh, friendly and cheery all the time. Just like the gentoo community.

I prefer Iris on Mirror because it is very easy on the eyes and very clean and fresh looking. Like a fresh juicy apple! :P

Aaron Shi's design gives me the feeling of a iomega zip drive. Cool but cold in the long run. 8)

i must say, they all look great!
but i believe that Aaron Shi has the most, eye-pleasing design.

but must we consider also having a minimalistic site too?
where you can chose if you want the feature-rich site, or the minimal site?
(something like what deviantart does, which i find extreemly helpful)

with kind regaurds,
KingPunk

i voted for Iris on Mirror. it just has a look that feels right for gentoo. allthough i´d rather have different colours as others stated.

cheers to everyone!

_wow_

I went with Aaron's, it is truely stunning. When I first heard about the redesign contest I would have never imaged something that nice coming about from it.

I must second the statement of hoping there is no flash involved in that banner/header.

Could anyone make this sticky and announce it on the main website and on the frontpage of the forums. It was just out of luck that I found this thread!
EDIT: Pardon my stupidity, the announcement is actually across all the pages ^^

Oh btw my vote went for Aaron Shi.

Although if Aaron's design weren't present, I'd have have gone for Derek!

+1 Iris on Mirror
It's bad to don't have a purple snapshot on the preview.

If there is no rush to select a winning entry, can there be a second round so that the top 2 submitters can have a chance to make further improvements/corrections to their designs based on our feedback?

By having a chance to take our views into consideration, they would be able to come up with revised designs that are at their BEST.

And the final design that we choose would definitely be the best and most well-suited for us.

(don't flame me guys, just felt that we shouldnt base such an important decision on v1.0 "software")

Aaron Shi. It's the most consice and powerful design. The choices of colors and shades work EXTREMELY well together. But others in this thread have praised it well enough.

In critique, it could stand to lose a bit of the corporate edge to it, like that giant advertisement, but if you drop that (example: the handbook page) it's a VERY nice looking portal.

Remember, just because the design shows corporate-esque content doesn't mean that they'll throw corporate stock photography all over the finished product ;D

I really liked Gentech and Aaron Shi. My vote went for Gentech.

I am impressed by all the designers. Maybe a collobration would work best?

Iris on Mirror because it's minimal and doesnt deviate too much from the current website, which I like very much.

My vote goes to Charles-Andre Landemaine - gencorp. The reason doesn't matter.

All of the entries are awesome. Good work to all who participated!!

I go for Aaron Shi.
But I think all the candidates look too commercial, like we're selling somthing. I guess it's because of the photo's.

So I say Aaron Shi without photo's :)

Please please please not Aaron Shi. I agree with everyone who said that it has "large impersonal corporation" written all over it. I showed it to a friend who said the same thing without my even saying anything. I voted for gentech, but Aaron Shi would be last in my estimation. It's a wonderful design, just not for Gentoo, in my opinion.
