I've seen another thread regarding this problem but the french link posted as (part of?) the solution was not much help.

I have emerged gtkmm 2.4.5

Code:
*  dev-cpp/gtkmm
      Latest version available: 2.4.5
      Latest version installed: 2.4.5
      Size of downloaded files: 3,843 kB
      Homepage:    http://gtkmm.sourceforge.net/
      Description: C++ interface for GTK+2
      License:     LGPL-2.1

which apparently generates a packade

Code:
gtkmm-2.4                   gtkmm - C++ wrapper for GTK+

This does not work with the gtkglextmm package as it looks for ``gtkmm-2.0''

Code:
checking for gtkglext-1.0 >= 1.0.0 gdkglext-1.0 >= 1.0.0 gtkmm-2.0 >= 2.0.0 gdkmm-2.0 >= 2.0.0 pangomm-1.0 >= 2.0.0 ... Package gtkmm-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtkmm-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'gtkmm-2.0' found

configure: error: Library requirements (gtkglext-1.0 >= 1.0.0 gdkglext-1.0 >= 1.0.0 gtkmm-2.0 >= 2.0.0 gdkmm-2.0 >= 2.0.0 pangomm-1.0 >= 2.0.0 ) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

!!! ERROR: dev-cpp/gtkglextmm-1.0.1 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 441, Exitcode 1
!!! econf failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

I'm not sure where the problem is, if it's the gtkglextmm-people I'm supposed to yell at for not supporting later versions of gtkmm2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
