Im running a 64bit system apart from the odd binary only software I like to run. The trouble with 32bit software is that it completely hard locks up my system after a few days. Openoffice-bin after running would hard lock the system after 3-4 days of being open, opera 7.54 took 5 days each time before it hard locked the system. Theres nothing in the logs, no kernel panics or oops' that I can find, just a hard lock requiring a reboot. This happened before I switched to NPTL and 2005.0 and after. The only thing that stands out is my CFLAGS which are
CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr"
Im not sure if the -fforce-addr might be doing it? I'm probably going to try removing it and rebuilding world soon anyway.
Any other ideas on what might be causing this? |
