|
|
I just setup my new AMD64 machine and after researching for awhile I found out that flash does not work all that well on an AMD64 machine. In order to get it to work you have to have a 32bit version of your browser and use the emu libs. I think that we should all put a feature request into maromedia for an AMD64 version. This way we can show them there is a strong interest.
To do this go here.
If you get any word back from macromedia on the status of the AMD64 port please post it here.

I did, too - but I wouldn't hold my breath. If I'm not mistaken, the Flash 7 port for Linux was done by SUN for JDS originally, and if there's noone throwing money at Macromedia to do a port right now, I think we'll have to wait 'till 64bit x86 systems have at least 20-30% market share...
Anyway, if you want to use Flash 7 now (with a 64bit browser) and use Konqueror (or look for another reason to switch to KDE), check:

I've been lurking around these fourms for a while in preperation for my first installation but I thought I should just let you know I also put in a feature request for a 64bit Flash Player on Linux...
Expect to see more of me very soon, I'm sure you can't wait |

I know its a big company and I shouldnt hold my breath and all but I am a programmer. Flash doesnt seem to use any asm or anything if I were to guess a recompile would be all they need to do. Thats why I think theres still some hope. Maybe if enough people request they will pass it onto the developers who will realize its easy and do it one after noon. |

Gentoo or Macromedia? | Macromedia, of course. Shockwave/Flash player is closed-source, hence only available in binary form. This means we only have a 32-bit version available for amd64, and it has to be run through all the emulation libraries...
64-bit mozilla plugin support is EXACTLY what we're asking for here. _________________ Petition for Better 64-bit ATI Drivers - Sign Here

We are sending to macromedia.
Mozilla can be compiled for 64bit, then it supports 64bit plugins. Use blackdown for 64bit java. |

Its sad when we have to wait for M$ to make a move before closed-source dev's will work on things |
