I've some problens (as noted on FTP server) with stage2 and stage3 tarballs.

Bref, what I did :

First, I boot on Gentoo 1.2 CD
Then I 'chroot the tarball' as said. Stage1, 1.4 for ppc, G3 tarballs don't work (tarball broken ?).
I choose Belnet mirror
I emerge rsync
I modify USE tags,
Code:
USE="alsa apm avi crypt cups directfb fbcon gpm jpeg libg++ libwww maildir mbox mikmod mpeg nas ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl pam png python quicktime slang slp spell ssl static svga tiff wmf xml xml2 zlib ppc"
CFLAGS
Code:
CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -mcpu=7400 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -mpowerpc-gfxopt -fsigned-char"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
and the locales trick in /usr/portage/sys-libs/glibc/glibc-2.2.5-r7.ebuild
Code:
localedef --prefix=${D} -i be_FR -f ISO-8859-15 be_FR@euro

If I don't modify anything, I get the same result :
Quote:
Using >=sys-apps/baselayout-1.7.9-r1
Using >=sys-apps/portage-2.0.35
Using =sys-devel/binutils-2.13.90.0.4

I think it's a hardware problem... perhaps the HDD.
