Hey, I'm getting a little desperate for some help here. I've installed gento 2.4.26 on my Ultra 10. Now I'm trying to configure X11. When I use startx as a regular user, it seems to start the server. Yet, I can't seem to click to get any of the menus for this WM, so I'm stuck just looking at this gray screen. Unfotunately, I also have issues trying to switch to another virtual console using Ctrl-Alt-#. I have the following xorg.conf

Code:

Section "ServerLayout"

Did you ever find an answer to this issue? I've recently gotten my mouse detected and am now having this same problem.

-Thank you-

No, I never got an answer to this problem. Could you please let me know if you ever figure this out? I don't have the time right now, but I was thinking maybe if I tried a different window manager it might work.

I'll point you to this thread I had started with my own issues: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=222564

The advice that led to my resolution is in there thanks to help from Labrador. I had to change both XSESSION and DISPLAYMANAGER. By changing the first to Xsession and the second to TWM, I had a working GUI.

Also, I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I noticed that in your xorg.conf, you have no resolutions (modes) listed in the different screen subsections.

Hope that helps.
