how to show if i got any email on login (tried pam)

I just installed postfix, it worked afther some trouble. but now i want the computer to tell me if i got any email when i login.
I tried adding:
session optional pam_mail.so standard noenv
in /etc/pam.d/sshd

but when i log in with ssh nothing changes. I tried to restart sshd. but still no change. any ideas?? reboot is NOT an option.

Try setting UseLogin to yes in your sshd_config file.
