Anyone able to play RO in WineX?

(RO = Ragnarok Online)

Searching past threads suggests this should work, but with GetCVSWineX updated as of this morning I keep getting a "Could not connect" error on the login screen. There's no delay between clicking the button and getting the dialog, so I don't think it's even trying to. There's also a weird problem with the mouse being extremely jittery, but that doesn't matter too much when I'm not able to play.

Should I try the stable branch?

Just out of curiousity, how did you get it to work at all? I keep getting a "could not init d3d or grf corrupted" or something like that whenever I try to start it...

I haven't got any idea what RO is or how old is it, but I'd recommend trying to install DirectPlay from some self-executing file, it did the trick for Total Annihilation.

Oh, that's right. I forgot to note it was constantly spewing some message about DirectPlay to the console as well. So, that sounds likely.

I'll try it after a good night's sleep.

Afaik RO stopped working after Gravity released sakexe on 27.1.2004, at least for me - it gave me the same error. It wasn't working perfectly anyway. The transparencies were purple, it was much slower and after some time there was a lot of graphic corruption and black squares flying everywhere so I had to restart RO every 10-15 minutes.

I installed something called "dplay82 update.exe" from Microsoft's web site. No change. Sorry, the console message was actually about DirectDraw.
